Two questions: merge two (or more) data libraries? Running OpenLP in the cloud?

Somehow, our church has ended up with our little OpenLP community spread over multiple computers. Only two, so far, but I won't be surprised now if I discover more!

I know that OpenLP wasn't designed to run with cloud storage for access by multiple computers and users, but that's the route I'll have to take, it seems.

First, I need to merge the two data libraries so that people aren't recreating things unnecessarily.

Second, I know that I've seen posts from people saying they use OpenLP in the cloud. (That's often been followed by @raoul telling them off!) Notwithstanding that reprimand, how did you set it up, and how has it worked out in practice, please?

AndrewK Wij zijn een kerkgemeenschap waar nog 5 personen gebruik maken van OpenLP 2.4.6. op onze eigen laptops.
Onze data staat in de Google Onedrive van de kerkgemeenschap, die lokaal op de laptops wordt gesynchroniseerd.
Aangezien er maar één persoon met de data mag / kan werken om verstoringen te voorkomen, hebben we daar wel afspraken over gemaakt.
Ik moet zeggen dat het prima werkt. Wel is het zo dat een ieder eerst even controleert of de lokale data wel wordt / is bijgewerkt.
Het voordeel is dat bij uitval van een beamerant een ander het gewoon, met de juiste data ter beschikking hebbende, kan overnemen.

HansH je kan ook de lock instelling gebruiken. In dat geval wordt afgedwongen dat maar een gebruiker tegelijk de data folder kan gebruiken. De anderen kunnen dan ook zien welke computer de data folder in gebruik heeft.

And unless I have misunderstood something, there isn't yet an answer to my question about merging two data libraries.

(@PaulRowell, before I saw your translation, I put the Dutch into a different translator, and the result was an identical English translation. I'm impressed that two internet services produced the same result!)

First, always keep a good backup of all the systems you are merging.
Second, choose one to be the outcome you want.
Three, on the other systems go to FILE>EXPORT to get the Themes and Songs.
Four, on the combined system go to FILE>IMPORT and load the items you wish to bring forward.
Finally, I would run TOOLS like reindex songs, find duplicates, update theme images, just to make sure your results are correct.

I have used these steps in the past. A little time consuming, but you only do it once after you get a procedure working.

We run OpenLP Portable from a USB drive to have in different locations on different systems. But that only works because we are alternating who does the service prep. We do not have two services being used in two locations.
