OpenLP not detecting vlc on Mac

Lynaya I think it just changed this morning. It solves a number of issues for us. Probably the most exciting is that image thumbnails can now be much larger, which is great for one visually impaired parishoner who uses a tablet to follow the service.

Jamie Hockin Yes the intel link above did not work for me. I did notice in discussion below that version 3.12 was available for Mac intel. I upgraded to that and all is well. Thanks,

Unfortunately it was the update to 3.1.2 that cause this message to appear for us.

Downgrading VLC to 3.0.2 hasn't worked, nor has any version between that one and the latest.

Would it be worth having a picker in the settings window to allow us to pick VLC's app folder location, or even libvlc.dylib directly?

Are VLC and OpenLP both installed in /Applications?

Jamie Hockin Yep, both are in the Applications.

I have actually just fixed it. I'm working with an M2 Mac mini. Downloaded both the intel and apple silicon versions of VLC. Swapping from AS to intel and then back to AS, opening VLC in between each time seems to have fixed the issue. OpenLP now recognises VLC and will playback videos.

DBCTech any love for those of us still using Intel Macs? I'm having no luck whatsoever, everything's up to date, in the Applications folder, everything. It makes no sense.

Valera1865 The OpenLP team keeps an Intel Mac for this exact reason. When I tested 3.1.2 with VLC on the Intel Mac, it was working. Make sure you're using the OpenLP version for Intel Macs, as well as the VLC version for Intel Macs.

raoul I just reinstalled OpenLP and it finally worked. I'm not sure what the issue was but it's resolved now.

Confirmed 3.1.2 appears to find VLC properly on macOS 14.5, both Intel and Apple Silicon. No error message. Woo hoo!
