We have a laptop available that only has a 1.4Ghz processor. What would be the main symptoms you'd experience when running OpenLP on such an under powered machine?

For example, would this affect song editing speed or ability to run an .mp4 file or .pptx file?

NorfolkGreg as long as you don't do a live stream it should be sufficient.

I ask as the novice OpenLP volunteer who has the machine at the moment claims an edited song takes "20+ seconds to refresh when saved" and is getting variable results with an .mp4 file, not reliably starting when selected as the next service item and the same sort of problem with a .pptx file.

I'm not clear about the source of the .mp4 file, but but the video is available on YouTube. I understand the .pptx file was generated on a Mac, so the issues might be related to the external files rather than OpenLP (Windows) itself.

I'll have a chance to play with the laptop in a week or so and may discover more that will help resolve the issues.

NorfolkGreg well, it is easy to test; just try with an empty PowerShell and a short MP4 file, both stored locally and see how that goes.
How many songs do you have stored in the database?

Just realised I should also have said that the laptop is running the portable edition. (It's a copy of my installation and has the whole of SoF volumes 1-5 installed.)

I certainly don't have an issue with the slow save on editing a song on my ancient Win10 1.9Ghz laptop with 1600:900 screen. However, I use it rarely enough in church to know whether the imperfections I find are down to my laptop or simple user error due to my lack of regular use.

NorfolkGreg It doesn't matter if you use the portable or the full version as long as the portable version is not being run from a USB drive. Just test with a clean install and small local files to troubleshoot. After that, increase the load step by step.
Since you are on Windows you can have the task manager open at the same time to see what is the impact on the hardware.
