Are there plans to update OpenLP to facilitate use of Bible verses?

I'm not sure what you mean, OpenLP already has this facility. Have you enabled the Bible module?

The Bible module is enabled and internet connection is fine. Before the upgrade everything worked fine. But after the upgrade to Tahoe I am given this error message - "There was a problem downloading your verse selection. Please check your Internet connection, and if this error continues to occur, please consider reporting a bug". Any assistance welcome.

I suspect this is a coincidence and that you are having issues with Bible Gateway. Are you in a country with GDPR laws?

There are workarounds for this until Bible Gateway resolved their issues. They involve using a VPN to route your request via a less restrictive country.

What version of the bible are you after?

I had forgotten about Bible Gateway and yes, we are using that. We are in UK and we have these GDPR laws as does most of europe. I'm not keen on using a VPN. We use ESV which I am looking for. Any suggestions for download. It should be an .xml file?
