Bug fixes:

PDF presentations that were disabled in release 3.1.6 by accident are available again.
Fix issue 1733 by forcing VLC version 3.0.18.

It seems that the false antivirus warnings on Windows are also gone now. Please let me know if you still encounter them while installing or using this release.

I just went from 3.1.6 to 3.1.7.

I get this error:

Error msg:
"Open LP requires the following libraries in order to show videos and other media, but they are not installed. Please install these libraries to enable media playback in OpenLP.
python3-vlc
See log file for more details."

New questions:
a. How do I get and install the needed python library? I have no experience with python at all. Or,... how do I fix this?
b. Where can i find this log file to read more details? Name? Path?

When I put a song in the Service Manager window, and double click on it, it doesn't play. On the toolbar at the bottom of the Live window, there is not triangle pointing to the right to click on to play manually. I assume this no playing is due to the python library error? What can I do?
c. I did see a person say they copied the python library from a 3.1.6 folder, but I upgrade my 3.1.6 to 3.1.7 so I don't have a 3.1.6 folder to copy from? I don't see the folders that hold python library items. Where is it (are they?)?

Is there any roadmap for 4.0 version mentioned in the blogpost? I am still on 2.4.6 ❤️ and I am looking forward for what 4.0 will bring 😉

jednou it depends on how technical you want to be 🙂

To be slightly more on topic, we don't have a specific roadmap (as an open source project, I don't think we ever really do), but there are some big underlying changes that we're making to move forward with the libraries we use. There will no doubt be a number of other fixes, changes, updates and new features, but we're currently concentrating on the big stuff.

Technical (under the hood) details:

Upgrading from Qt5 to Qt6
Moving to PySide instead of PyQt
Using the built-in media capabilities of Qt6, rather than VLC

Non-technical details:

All the goodness from v3
Better media support
Various improvements to chords support

That's what I can think of off the top of my head right now.

HI, not sure where we upload bug issues, but I am still getting any video added to a service plan by default is INACTIVE for auto replay. Is this an issue for others or is there something I have failed to do (the toggle in the media settings in ON)

I have just downloaded v3.1.7 to my mac and opened successfully, however I am back to 2 previous issues as follows:
VLC not detected, so unable to show media, and presentation tab under library is not appearing, despite presentation plugin being active. Please can you help?

keith_brockbank I've updated via Flatpak and cannot display media (missing python3-vlc) and cannot display PDFs any longer, though my presentations tab is still visible. All the options in settings for presentations are grayed out. I this same problem back in 2023.

In case anyone else wondered what the "Issue 1733" is that is fixed in this edition, the gitlab board says: "Audio of video is played twice if preview is enabled and video is sent to live."

I just upgradet to v3.1.7 but I get this Error when opening OpenLP.

Copying the files from the C:\Program Files\OpenLP\vlc folder of an v3.1.6 installation to the v3.1.7 installation fixed the issue.

Thanks as always for the great work you are doing! I've noticed in this version that when I import text files downloaded from SongSelect (imported outside of OpenLP, as the File-Import-CCLI SongSelect window in OpenLP does not allow me to log in - the Sign in button seems to be 'greyed' out), the first line of any part of a song that gets allocated to an 'Other' verse (as opposed to Verse, Chorus, or Bridge) - eg. O1, O2, O3 etc has the first line of text missing?

jlgtx I'm running 3.1.7 under openSUSE Tumbleweed. This is the first time I've updated OpenLP via Flatpak. I'm glad I simply cloned the drive before updating! For Sunday I can simply swap drives and continue on with 3.1.4 (with its own issues).
