Can't Download Remote (or First-Time Resource Data)

I've been trying to install Linux and OpenLP on a Dell XPS 15 L502X. Some would say it's been a nightmare. After giving up on Debian because OpenLP just wouldn't work on it for me, I finally got Ubuntu installed. I had to install an older server to get a system that would boot and add a desktop and upgrade. Now, I'm successfully running Ubuntu 23.10 (mantic). I've been able to install OpenLP 3.0.2, and it works for the most part (as far as I've tested it). I can present to Live on a separate screen. That's great! 😃

The problem is I want to use the remote, and I can't install it. I may be wrong; but as far as I can tell, I need to initially install the remote in Settings > Configure OpenLP > Remote Interface by clicking Check for Updates. When I first installed OpenLP, at some point, I skipped an option to install the remote (I don't recall how that all played out). I figured I could install it later. When I try to install it now by clicking Check for Updates, it spins for a while and finally alerts, "There was a problem fetching the latest version of the remote." I've tried Tools > Re-run First Time Wizard. When I arrive at the option to download resource data and I click Next to do so, it spins for a while and finally says that I have no Internet connection and that it can't connect to the Internet. But I do have an Internet connection that is working just fine. I assume these two problems accessing the Internet are connected.

I've tried updating the remote numerous times. I've reran the first-time wizard numerous times. I've followed some instructions I found somewhere to import a settings file that changes the version or something, but it didn't work. Still, the remote wouldn't download after that. I've made sure my system was updated. I've uninstalled (using purge) OpenLP and deleted the OpenLP folder, restarted my system, and reinstalled OpenLP. Still, the remote and the first-time wizard resources wouldn't download.

I thought the first-time wizard would automatically run after uninstalling and reinstalling. I used purge when I uninstalled OpenLP and deleted the OpenLP folder to make sure. But the first-time wizard didn't automatically run on the reinstall; so perhaps, I missed something. I can't even be certain it's supposed to run automatically at this point.

Can anyone tell me how I might get the remote installed and working?

UPDATE 03/15/24:

Updating the remote and downloading resource data through the first-time wizard still do not work for me through OpenLP; however, I was able to get the remote installed. 👍️ I first tried to access http://get.openlp.org/remote to download the latest remote there and manually install it, but I was unable to access that directory listing. It just spins; I've never received an error message from the site. Finally, I was able to download the remote from that site by accessing it through a web proxy. My Internet connection is working just fine otherwise. I got the remote installed and working, so I may be good for now. But I do still have a problem; though, I don't know the source of it. I can access other sites fine and have no problem downloading things and otherwise using the Internet, but my Internet apparently doesn't work with OpenLP without hiding my IP address through a web proxy.

I'm not sure if this is a similar problem. I reinstalled my system, going from Linux Mint 21.3 to Linux Mint 22, so I had to reinstall a lot of my software, including OpenLP. When I tried to run the First-Time Wizard to install the remote and resources, it got stuck on this window for a really long time:

At first it did not load any data, and acted as if it's frozen up. It eventually loaded the files, but incredibly slowly. It took about 20-30 minutes to download the remote, the four English-language Bible files, song files, and backgrounds, and my Internet speed (1 Gb/s) is not THAT slow by any means. The process back when my Internet speed was half that speed used to take less than a minute.

This is on Linux, trying to install both the 3.1.0 version included in the Ubuntu repositories, and the 3.1.2 version Flatpak (there is no .deb installer file at get.openlp.org this time for some reason). I'm not sure if this is a web traffic issue on your end, or if there is a problem in the program itself.
