Line Formatting

I know when you start to add lyrics you can put line breaks in (optional or forced), to essentially create a line count, but is there a way to do a program wide line count? So that every song can just have whole verses and chorus and not have a need for the line break tags. Then let the theme handle the line count and breaks.

I wouldn't use line breaks to make each verse appear on a new slide. Use the verse separator instead.

PaulRowell Sorry, I forgot to mention that I do use the verse, chorus, bridge separators tags, I mean within those separators. We use a custom stage view to get Lower Thirds Lyrics into our live stream, so more than 2-3 lines starts to crowd the screen. So, we started forcing a break after 2-3 line to make sure it was keeping the stream looking nice.

Such as:
---[Verse:1]---
He became sin, who knew no sin
That we might become His righteousness
[--}{--] <------ THIS RIGHT HERE IS THE FORCED SPLIT
He humbled himself and carried the cross
Love so amazing, love so amazing
---[Chorus:1]---
Jesus Messiah, name above all names
Blessed redeemer, Emmanuel
[--}{--] <-------- And Here
The rescue for sinners, the ransom from Heaven
Jesus Messiah, Lord of all

It would just be nice if the Themes could handle this line splitting so that when editing a song, it can go a lot faster than adding them ourselves.

You can certainly make the theme just have enough space for a certain number of lines of a certain font size. But you will always have the situation that OpenLP may choose to split the lyric in the wrong place from a singability point of view.

If you edit a theme and make the main area smaller, then OpenLP will size the slide based on the amount of available space on each slide. The smaller the main area, the less text it can hold.
