I am using Portable OpenLP 3.1.0 RC1

I was testing a video background (which I have not gotten to work). In the process, I found that the BLACK SCREEN and DESKTOP icons both give a black screen. I am not sure I tried this right after the install, but the DESKTOP view is not working now.

I like this release. Lots of nice features.

Everything works fine on my WIN 10 .

The problem is with my WIN 11 with two graphics cards (AMD and NVIDIA). Occasionally an update comes in that can cause OpenLP problems.

BOTTOM LINE, the issue is with my system.

Under the Nvidia Control Panel, Manage 3D Settings, do you have "Preferred Graphics Processor" set to auto select?

I had to set it to that, to let OpenLP play video backgrounds. But this was on Intel and Nvidia, so may be a little differnet.

On my system the issue is that the Laptop display and USB-C (docking station) are on the AMD GPU which is onboard. The NVIDIA runs the Display Port and HDMI. Then I am also participating in the MS Insider program, so I get early releases.

For some reason, from time-to-time an update will not work with OpenLP to run both the monitor and the display on the AMD GPU. I switch the external monitor to the Nvidia for the main desktop (even through the OpenLP display in still on the AMD GPU) and all works fine.

This HP Omen gaming system is a great system for working with video editing. OpenLP is the only software I use that finds this bug in the system, then the next MS release comes in and it goes away.

I have kept testing this issue and update my drivers for both the NVIDIA and AMD Radeon onboard with RYZEN 5 5600.

OpenLP is the only program I have encountered that has a problem with the AMD Radeon GPU. If the system is on the NVIDIA with external monitor and the DISPLAY is on the laptop with the AMD Radeon all is well. If the system is on a external monitor connected to the AMD Radeon, then videos will not play and the reveal desktop goes to a black screen.

I have had this come and go in the past with updates from Windows. But, still it seems there is something about the way OpenLP is accessing the monitors that make it unique.

Fortunately, this is not a problem for our production. Just curious if it might cause problems for others.

I have found that the problem is with hiding the cursor on the display connected to the AMD GPU. If I click the "show desktop" icon, the screen goes blank, until I move the cursor to that screen and left click.

If I have a video in the service. It will not run until I move the cursor to that screen and click.

This only happens on my AMD GPU. The NVIDIA works fine.

It does not matter if the "hide mouse cursor when over display" is on or off.

Not sure why...
