I just installed OpenLP and when it first installs it gives me a fatal error -1.

Then, when I try to open it, it opens, but when I run the first time wizard, it says there is no network access, but there is.

I have tried uninstalling completely, deleting everything from the registry and all, but reinstalling still gets the same results.

I have put an permission in the firewall to allow the app.

I am on my laptop, with Windows 10, 64 BIT.

8 days later

I have the same problem.

I installed OpenLP on Windows 10. Every time I try to re-run the first time set up, I get the message that there is a network errors attempting to retrieve initial configuration information. I have checked the firewall settings and this does not seem to be the issue as OpenLP has been granted access.

My network is working fine. I am able to use the internet perfectly well for other software.

Looking at the troubleshooting threads from Google searches suggests that this is a problem that has plagued this software for a number of years.

Which version of OpenLP did you install?

And in which folder did you install it?

The version I installed was 2.4.6 on Windows 10.

I used the folder OpenLP in Program Files (x 86) for installation

Have you tried to rename or delete the "data" folder in AppData?

C:\Users\<yourUser>\AppData\Roaming\openlp -> there should be a data folder.

You can just rename it to somthing else, and OpenLP will create a new one.

I have deleted the data folder. Still saying network error.

Log file includes the lines (about 3/4 of the way down)

File "urllib\request.py", line 1185, in do_open

urllib.error.URLError: <urlopen error [SSL: CERTIFICATE_VERIFY_FAILED] certificate verify failed (_ssl.c:600)>

2021-11-18 10:36:36,175 openlp.core.utils.__init__               ERROR  URLError: [SSL: CERTIFICATE_VERIFY_FAILED] certificate verify failed (_ssl.c:600)

Similar text appears frequently.

The first occurrence of the word 'ERROR' in the log file is

2021-11-18 10:36:29,648 openlp.core.utils.__init__               ERROR  Failed to download the latest OpenLP version file

Oh ok, there was a workaround for the problems with the SSL certificate:

You can try with Edge, but maybe you really have to dig out Internet Explorer, since you are on Win10 it is still available.
