can't connect using the remote Android app

I cant connect with my Android tablet either with the app or using the web.

I entered the correct IP address for the host computer: 192.168.1.104 in the Remote settings and entered http://192.168.1.104:4316/ into the app preferences

couldnt connect says 'Unable to process request - check network settings'

I opened TCP port 4316 on the laptop

still didnt work

I rebooted everything.

I tried typing the URL into a browser: http://192.168.1.104:4316/

said site cant be reached.

then tried my ipad. No joy.

Now run out of ideas.

@Lorelli you didn't mention what version you are using, but somethings you can check.

If you are using version 2.4.x you have to make sure the remote plugin is active.

If you are using the Beta, you have to go into settings and try to update the remote plugin.

And with both versions you have to be on the same network as the device running OpenLP. In some cases that means turning of your phone or Ipad's cellular data and only using Wifi.

@Lorelli The IP address in the remote settings is the listen address not the host address. That field should be

in most cases.

is a special address that means listen to everything.

Try temporarily turning your firewall off, if that fixes it then you will need to add rules for OpenLP.

thanks so much everyone. Paul the firewall was one of the problems. I fixed it and could then connect over the web. But not the app. IP address was entered with http etc. All fixed and working great on the app now..

Having problems connecting to the Android app remotely. Angry! Reinstalling the software and verifying the network settings didn't fix the problem. Any recommendations? 🇧

I would actually not recommend using the Android App, since it has been deprecated and is no longer maintained. Instead, please you the web-based remote available through the IP address listed in the Remote-settings.

I have also found using a VPN on the remote device also causes problems. You need to turn it off if you are using one. Otherwise my Android App is still working fine.
