Hi Zeus63
Thanks for your comment. I certainly didn't mean my comment to be "harsh" on any personal level. I've done programming and basics are basics. In other words, if you have a large project that is very workable, but some basic/practical/essential element got overlooked, that is a "glaring oversight."

In practice for most church users, the book reference is always associated with the chapter and verse. The simple phrase, "3:16" is meaningless without a book name. Therefore the programming should follow suit. If some users want the book name elsewhere for various reasons, that's fine, as long as the base usage is accounted for. In this case, the base usage was overlooked. That's a fact, not an attempt to be harsh.

What do I mean by "overlooked?" Its the fact that all the functional elements exist to include the book name right there with the chapter and verse. There's already a settings menu that includes chapter and verse, and book name should be in that menu. Perhaps it could have other options, like a choice for display "with chapter and verse" or "with the footer text". Bible text settings are incomplete with only a chapter and verse listing. That should be fairly obvious... Yes, they did have it accounted for elsewhere, but its not obvious, and its counter intuitive to normal function.

Your suggested workaround is an obvious one, but it is not workable. One of the main purposes for the "footer" is for elements that are legal requirements if you're projecting images onto the wall of a church. For song usage you MUST have a license number present. That's why there is a footer. However the license number has nothing of value to add to the song itself, so I keep it small and at the bottom. It's there as required, but it's not intrusively obvious. The Book names need the opposite. They need to be prominent and visible, and associated with the chapter and verse numbers. There's no need for a license number next to a book name. However some bibles require copyright info, again a good item for footers, but not for large placement with the book name.

There's only one footer, so settings for size and placement end up being used for all footer usage... license numbers, copyright info, and book names.

Yes, I do applaud all the work the volunteers have done whole heartedly, and I recommend this software to others because I value this project and wish to continue using it. In the past I've contributed to other projects so I fully understand their circumstances, their motivations, and the work they do to make things work. I would appreciate if a glaring oversight could simply be recognized as such, and fixed as the volunteers are continuing their many various tasks. It's a simple oversight, its also relatively easy to fix. I'm not trying to make extra work for anyone, just trying to point out a very significant issue that affects the usability of this very nice program for those users who don't want license numbers next to a book name, or who don't want the book name dislocated to the bottom of the screen.
