OpenLP 2.1.5 - VLC and Webkit still grayed out in Settings | Configure... | Players

Hello and thank you for such a useful program. I'm using OpenLP 2.1.5 on Win 8.1, VLC 2.2.4 (x64) installed, not on disk C but on F, as I reserve C for windows operating system. My question is: Why does OpenLP grays out VLC and Webkit (both unavailable) and leaves Phonon as the only option? Also one more issue: Why when a LibreOffice Impress is on screen do I have to first click with the mouse on it and THEN use Esc to quit the presentation and go to back to my service? Also, it would be useful to give the mouse some power over things on screen, as I have tried to use it to change slides back or forth and it doesn't work. OpenLP seems to give priority to the arrows keys to be used for this. Thank you for your support and looking forward to an answer. Leoram.

Hi Leoram,

The reason that VLC is grayed out is that you need the 32-bit version for it to work with OpenLP since OpenLP is 32-bit (on windows). The webkit player is disabled in the 2.1.x releases and in the upcoming 2.2 release on Windows and Mac due to changes in one of the underlying frameworks we are using for OpenLP. It will return in the 2.4 release.

I am not entirely sure I understand your LibreOffice issue. Can't you go to the next item in the service without closing LibreOffice? Or are you on a 1-screen setup?

Could elaborate on how you think the mouse should have more power? It is possible to use the mouse at the moment using the back/forward buttons in the slide-controller.

First - The VLC 32-bit solution on Windows you mentioned is well understood, but I don't plan to uninstall the 64-bit I already have; however I'd like to ask a question: Will VLC 32-bit portable work if I install it on a local disk while I have the 64-bit version also installed on a different disk (http://portableapps.com/apps/music_video/vlc_portabl)? OpenLP doesn't seem to allow the selection of a directory to assign a player executable, which is a shame.

Second - As to the LibreOffice issue: I refer only to an Impress presentation. When I have a presentation live (on a 1-screen setup) I have to use the arrows keys on the keyboard to change slides. Using the mouse to accomplish that doesn't seem to work or I am missing something.

Third - With regards to the mouse having more power on a live presentation: I don't see slide-controller on screen when an Impress presentation goes live, or, again, I may be missing something.

Hi Leoram,

When you are on a 1-screen setup LibreOffice takes over the screen and when you presses a key or click the mouse it is LibreOfiice that receives it, not OpenLP. You can get portable OpenLP to detect a portable VLC, but you need to modify a setting file: OpenLPPortable\App\Appinfo\Launcher\OpenLPPortable.ini You will need to update the PATH variable at the bottom to match your setup.

Hi tgc: I am back with the issue of getting portable OpenLP to detect a portable VLC. I modified the setting: OpenLPPortable\App\Appinfo\Launcher\OpenLPPortable.ini The problem is that updating the PATH variable at the bottom to match my settup doesn't work. When I fire up OpenLP it still grays out VLC besides the fact that I have now a portable 32-bits VLC installed. The path I modified is now as follows: [Environment] PATH=E:\VLCPortable\App\vlc\vlc.exe Is this correct? --Please help.

PATH should point the the folder(s) where executables can be found, so it should look like this

[Environment]

PATH=%PATH%;E:\VLCPortable\App\vlc
