Hey Raoul,

Thanks for the quick reply. I did have the dual monitor set up - to 'extend the desktop' on the laptop. I did notice when I go to set it up in openlp, it is looking for a 'projector' - but we are not using a projector - we're using the TV for our output.

When we brought in another HDMI cable (gift from one of our church members, but only 6 ft long - not long enough when the TV is up on the wall, and the laptop is on a table off to the side - that cable instantly worked - what was on the laptop was on the TV screen....and we celebrated.

Then - still with the short HDMI cable - we ran one of the videos that I had intended to run before the service, and it went fine, but then I could not get back to the openlp screen.....tried hitting the escape button, but then the screen went black (is there a 'black screen of death?') and stayed that way.

The other 'freezing up' problem we had was when the TV didn't work during the service, I just ran the song lyrics on the laptop screen - turning it around so the people could see the screen, and hitting the down arrow to move the words...awkward, but better than nothing. In the middle of the second song, the laptop just froze - the words were on the screen, but I could not advance them, nor go back, or do anything at all.

The laptop is brand new - a Dell Inspiron....and I certainly thought it capable of doing what I was trying - but I am not sure where the problem lies.....the laptop? Openlp? something else entirely that I haven't thought of?

Going back over to church today with a new HDMI cable - and trying again....and documenting all that I do....and see if it was just 'first day gremlins' - as happens often the first time I try something.

Any help, suggestions, etc would be very much appreciated!

Thanks!

Trish
